This K type Thermocouple is custom made to MoTeC's specification supplied with a compression fitting and a heat resistant Miniature connector.

K-type thermocouples come in either an exposed tip (# 58005) or an enclosed tip (# 58009). Exposed tip is faster in measuring change in temperature but is more susceptible to breakage from vibration or shock waves. Enclosed tip thermocouples are more reliable but deliver a slower update rate of between three to eight times per second.

Commonly used to measure:

  • Exhaust gas temperature
  • Brake pad temperature
  • Charge air temperature

Thermocouples require cold junction calibration to accurately determine the output voltage.

Use the MoTeC TCA Thermocouple Amplifier PN #58008 or the E888 PN #14007 Expander Module.

The thermocouple must be connected using K Type Thermocouple wire or K Type compensating wire all the way to the amplifiers connector (there must be no copper wire in-between).
