This is a complete plug-and-play solution using the Link FuryX ECU.

From around 2008 onwards, most vehicles utilise a communications system called CANbus.

This system sends a tonne of data over 2 wires, saving a bunch of wiring in the cars that use this system.
The issue with this, is that the communication *language* is proprietary, and different for each manufacturer and model.
This means, that if you were to install a typical standalone ECU into one of these vehicles, there would be a breakdown in communication with the other ECU’s in the vehicle, and you would end up with a bunch of lights on your dashboard telling you the vehicle isn’t happy with what you have done.

Enter, the Powertune CAN gateway!
Our CAN gateway is a device that allows you to utilise your ‘generic’ Haltech/Link/EMtron ECU in these later model vehicles, with no communications issues.
The gateway takes the standalone ECU’s can data stream, manipulates everything into the format that the vehicle is expecting, and spits it out to the vehicle.
This means that the vehicle effectively thinks the factory ECU is installed, and doesn’t complain and throw error lights, and all systems work as expected.
On the flipside, the gateway also takes in signals from the vehicle, and puts them into your standalone ECU for use as well. These are signals such as switch states, steering angle, wheel speed etc.

Each gateway unit is individually programmed for a specific input and output format. Meaning that you cant grab a gateway from another car, and hope that it will just magically work.
The gateway needs to know what data format to expect from the standalone, and also what to output to the factory vehicle.
